Nest(ing) Tip // Velvet Curtains

linen to velvet

Back in the Victorian era velvet curtains were a must-have home accessory.  Was it because they were they fashionable? Yes.  Was it because they were functional?  YES!

Never have I realized that more than this winter!  As the temperatures continuously dip below 30 degrees here in the south, all of my lovely large windows and French doors feel like they have become wind tunnels funneling into my home.

It has become quite evident that it is time to switch from the linen curtains to the velvet.  Our fore-mothers and fathers were no dummies!  Trust me, switching from lighter to heavier curtains truly helps to suffocate some of that air that is whistling through those windows.

Not only is it practical to switch out those curtains as the seasons change, but it's also a fun and fairly inexpensive way to change up your look.

If you haven't already stocked up on velvet curtains, here's where you can get some....
